Our Mission
The Butler Area Woodturners (BAW) is an organization dedicated to the promotion of Woodturning through education and hands on applications.
Our Story
Butler Area Woodturners is proud to be a sanctioned chapter of the worldwide American Association of Woodturners (AAW). As one of 365 chapters across the globe, we are part of an international community that celebrates the creativity, craftsmanship, and enjoyment of woodturning.
For more than twenty years, Butler Area Woodturners has welcomed people who share a love of woodturning, whether they are experienced turners or just getting started. Our club brings together friendly, like-minded hobbyists who enjoy learning new techniques, sharing ideas, showcasing their work, and encouraging one another.
More than just a club, Butler Area Woodturners is a place to build skills, make friends, and enjoy the satisfaction of creating something beautiful and unique from wood.
Our Workshop
We have a fully equipped woodturning studio and classroom design for learning, creating and connection. Our shop contains:
- 7 wood lathes
- 2 pen lathes
- Bandsaw
- Drill press
- Dust collection system
- Turning tool sharpening system
- Carbide and HHS turning tools
- Safety gear
- Instructional classroom
